Our Vision

A History of Drums

Did you know that the modern drum kit was born from a blend of ancient, multicultural roots?

The snare drum emerged in 19th-century Europe, while the bass drum dates back to the 1600s.

Cymbals trace their origins to the East, some of the oldest instruments in human history.

Toms evolved from African and Native American percussions  and the hi-hat itself has Roman ancestors.

The Djembe

At Nomadrum, we chose to place the djembe at the heart of this legacy.

Originating from West Africa, the djembe is a masterpiece of natural acoustics, capable of deep bass tones and sharp, bright highs.

So why carry a drum for every sound, when one skin can do it all?

That question became our obsession.

About Nomadrum

The idea was born on a van trip to Portugal, somewhere between ocean waves, handpan rhythms, and rediscovered childhood dreams of drumming.

An engineer’s curiosity met a musician’s passion.

(What started as a handmade prototype became a new way to play.)

Today, in a small surf village in Portugal, Nomadrum is taking shape, crafted with respect, assembled by hand, designed to travel and to inspire.
