The Kit

The Nomadrum Kit is an innovative modular system that mounts onto a djembe or any other hand drum
transforming it into a full, compact, and portable drum set

A Hybrid, Versatile and modular Concept

“The lightness and portability of this invention come from using a single drumhead to produce both kick bass and snare sounds.”

Recreating the playing style of a traditional drum kit : two pedals, kick bass, hi-hat, toms and cymbals, the Nomadrum Kit unlocks an entirely new range of rhythmic possibilities.
It can be played with sticks or with hands.

Thanks to its interchangeable modules : bongos, bells, cymbals, snare chain and more  it becomes a true modular percussion system, offering greater flexibility and creativity than a conventional drum set.

For studio applications, the system can be expanded even further: for example, using two djembes  one dedicated to the kick bass, and another for the snare and additional modules.

The kit is equipped with standard percussion module mountings, allowing full compatibility with a wide range of percussion accessories.
Every element is fully adjustable in height, angle, and position, ensuring optimal comfort and a setup that perfectly matches your playing style.

You can also integrate the percussion modules you already own, expanding your setup without limits.

Hoop

The standard hoop fits 12” to 14” djembes and features a double pulley and rope-locking system for secure mounting.

It is compatible with both traditional rope-tuned djembes and tunable djembes.
For traditional rope-tuned djembes, four support blocks (included) must be added during installation.

The hoop includes four adjustable mounting brackets for precise positioning of each percussion module.
Additional brackets are available as optional upgrades.

Noma Hoop

Remote kick bass & beater

The remote kick bass system is one of the most distinctive elements of the Nomadrum Kit.

It mounts directly onto the hoop and is designed for precision, control, and adaptability.

The system offers full adjustability in both height and beater position, allowing players to fine-tune their setup.
It is compatible with standard kick drum beaters, giving you the freedom to use your preferred accessories.

Spring tension can be adjusted on both the pedal and the upper mechanism, ensuring a responsive feel that matches your playing style.

Snare wire

The snare chain module is a key component of the system. It mounts onto any vertical module axle, allowing flexible placement within the setup.

The chain rests directly on top of the drumhead, with adjustable tension to shape the response and character of the sound.

Depending on the settings, it can produce a wide range of snare-like textures, from subtle articulation to a more pronounced snap.

Hi-hat

The hi-hat is available in two models: a remote hi-hat and a standard lightweight hi-hat, both of which attach securely to the hoop.

Hi-hat cymbals are available in 8” and 12” sizes, allowing you to customize the sound to your playing style.

Bongo / Timbal / tambourine / tom

For the Starter Kit, we offer an ABS bongo with mounting support, designed to minimize the overall weight of the kit.

It is also possible to attach small toms, timbales, or a tambourine for additional versatility.

Skin protection

To extend the life of your djembe skin, we provide protective patches similar to those used on snare drum or kick drum heads.

For best results, use sticks with plastic or nylon tips, which help prevent premature wear on the drumhead.

Bell & others

This accessory, which many of you have enjoyed in our videos, is now available in our catalogue.

Two-tone drum cowbell made from durable ABS hard plastic.
Features a metal mounting bracket with a wing-screw system for quick and secure attachment to standard drum hardware.
Lightweight, impact-resistant, and easy to install.

Rimshot feature

Playing a djembe with drumsticks can accelerate use of the drumhead, especially on the outer edge.
To help protect your instrument and extend the life of your drumhead, we developed the Nomadrum Rimshot.

The Rimshot is a half-hoop attachment that mounts directly onto the main Nomadrum hoop.
It is height-adjustable, allowing you to position it just above the drumhead.

This ensures that your drumsticks never hit the edge of the skin, reducing wear while keeping the natural sound of your djembe.

In addition to protection, the Rimshot also opens new playing possibilities.
You can play rimshot-style accents using reversed sticks, similar to a snare drum technique.

Important Note on Djembe Skins

To protect our djembe skin edge we are proposing :

Rimshot feature

Traditional djembes are fitted with natural drumheads, which were not originally designed to be played with sticks.
Using sticks on natural skins may cause accelerated wear or damage, especially with intensive playing.

We understand how hard it is to resist playing with sticks, we love it too.
To reduce the risk of damage, we strongly recommend:

  • Using sticks with rubber or nylon tips
  • Applying a protective patch to the djembe skin
  • Using synthetic drumheads whenever possible, as they are generally more durable and easier to replace

Nomadrum cannot be held responsible for damage to djembe skins resulting from this type of use. However, we are actively working on developing solutions to address this challenge and further improve compatibility with different drumhead types.

How to assemble

Easy installation, no modification to the djembe

No alteration to your instrument: each element of the kit attaches and detaches easily, with no drilling or gluing required.
Everything is adjustable in height, angle, and position to match your playing style and comfort.

The universal hoop fits most 12" to 14" djembes.
